This critical-thinking course uses a neutral cultural forensic approach and analytic autoethnography to examine the public case of Sara J. Kruzan. It treats a longitudinal lived-experience record as one source of evidence for studying how culture, law, public health, media, and institutions shape responses to children and youth affected by exploitation, violence, incarceration, and reentry. Learners will practice separating verified facts from interpretation, applying careful language, evaluating research and legal sources, and assessing systemic gaps without treating one case as representative of every survivor.
